பொலன்னறுவை, சிறிபுர கலுகெலே வெலிய பகுதியில் நேற்று (13) காட்டு யானை தாக்குதலுக்குள்ளானதில் பெண்ணொருவர் உயிரிழந்துள்ளார்.
இந்தத் துயரச் சம்பவத்தில் குறித்த பெண்ணின் கணவர் படுகாயமடைந்த நிலையில் தெஹியத்தகண்டிய பிரதேச வைத்தியசாலையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு தீவிர சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருகின்றார்.
தம்பதியினர் இருவரும் தங்களுக்குச் சொந்தமான வயலுக்குச் சென்றிருந்த போதே, எதிர்பாராத விதமாக அங்கு வந்த காட்டு யானையின் தாக்குதலுக்கு இலக்காகியுள்ளதாகத் தெரிய வந்துள்ளது.
இந்தச் சம்பவம் குறித்துப் பொலன்னறுவை பொலிஸார் மேலதிக விசாரணைகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்.
A woman was killed and her husband severely injured following a wild elephant attack in the Kalugele Welia area of Siripura, Polonnaruwa, on the 13th. The couple was reportedly heading to their paddy field when the attack occurred; the husband is currently receiving treatment at the Dehiattakandiya Regional Hospital while police conduct further investigations.
